TEVMOT Project Field Works Presented At The Motor Summit International
The project “Promoting Energy-Efficient Motors in SMEs in Turkey (TEVMOT Project)” carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, in cooperation with UNDP, was presented by Industry and Technology Experts Gürsu Sezen Torun and Fatma Çil with a presentation entitled “Field Implementation in the ASO 1 OIZ” at the Motor Summit 2020 in Zurich. Due to the current global pandemic, the conference was organised not physically but online, and involved 30 speakers and participants from 28 countries.
The Motor Summit, held on 18–19 November, was one of the most significant international events in the electric motors sector. Bringing together public institutions, researchers, educational institutions, motor, pump and fan manufacturers, machinery equipment manufacturers and motor system users, as well as international experts from other relevant bodies, the Summit contributes to the establishment of cooperation networks with the platform it provides, offering a sharing experience. During the summit sessions, the international standards set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) were discussed, along with such topics as efficient motor systems, the legal regulations on Minimum Energy Performance Standards, experiences in the implementation of market transformation programs, fan efficiency, compressors, technological developments and digitalisation.
During our presentation, general information was provided about the TEVMOT Project, detailing the steps to be followed in an application for motor replacement in three SMEs in the ASO 1 OIZ (Organized Regional Zone), the auditing processes, the investment amounts that the enterprises should make to replace existing inefficient motors and motor systems with energy efficient ones, calculations of the the return on investment periods as well as calculations of the payments to be made to SMEs from the Energy-Efficient Motors Support developed by KOSGEB in cooperation with our Ministry, and. All of the presentations made at the International Motor Summit can be accessed via the YouTube channel of the Motor Summit.
The project aims to promote additional investments in the field of energy efficiency in industry through the “market transformation” in the electric motors used in small- and medium-sized enterprises. In the market transformation process, it is aimed for the existing inefficient motors used in industrial enterprises to be replaced by energy efficient modelsas well as the electric motors that will enter the market and the machinery and equipment equipped with these motors to be efficient.. There is an aim also to reduce CO2 equivalent greenhouse gas emissions, which means direct energy savings, through the replacement of inefficient motors during the TEVMOT Project. It is envisaged that, aside from the pilot field works, awareness-raising activities among industries will lead to a nationwide trend of sustainable motor replacement. A delegation of 16 people from the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the TEVMOT Project management unit and the project partners participated at the Motor Summit-2018, and made an introductory presentation about the project. That presentation attracted great attention, as was the case also this year.
